Functions Of Analog Meter And Digital Meter
10/23/2017
There are two primary types of the multimeter, one begin the analog and the other is digital. The primary difference between the two is the display, an analog multimeter uses a needle to show the value, while a digital multimeter will show the results as numbers on a screen.
Analog Multimeter:-It provides measurement in analog form with the metal pointer. The analog multimeter uses the simple display with markings for various ranges as per R, V and I measurements. The Accuracy of measurement is lower. Digital Multimeter:- The digital multimeter provides measurement in digital form using digits as per resolution needed. It uses LCD display. And the highest AC frequency to be measured is higher than the analog multimeter. The accuracy of measurement is higher. Analog Voltmeter:- In analog voltmeter the output signal representation is done by using potentiometer deflection. It does not require digitization of signal. The voltmeter speed of operation is less. The analog voltmeter resolution is poor. The different type is: Average reading True RMS reading Sampling type etc. Digital voltmeter:- In digital voltmeter, the output signal is represented in the digital form. The sensitivity is more in digital voltmeter. These voltmeters can be programmed. In this digital voltmeter, the speed of operation is more. The different type is: Ramp type Integrated type Analog Panel Meters:- If the machine or process expected within specific range the analog panel meter does not require an external power source, and a typical analog meter has a plus-minus two percent accuracy sufficient for many applications. Analog panel meter is an especially cost-effective way to provide a visual clue to system performance. The draws power from the input signal, an analog panel meter does not require an external power source. Digital Panel Meters:- Digital panel meter has an accuracy of plus-minus 0.05% or less, you will want to use a digital panel meter when you need very precise readings. A digital panel meter with an embedded web a server enables you to connect to the panel meter via a web browser, enabling remote real-time control. Some panel meters can be configured for PID or on/off control and output options include isolated programmable analog voltage/current, pulse, solid-state relays, and SPDT relays. The multimeter is an important tool for any electrician's or testers. The digital multimeter is better than the analog type, because digital is easy to read and gives greater accuracy. The analog multimeter is outdated technique. So always choose the right electrical instruments for troubleshooting. You can find these tools at nearest test equipment depot at affordable price.
